hey, marsupial (Chicago @ Ronny’s Monday night!)- April 5, 2009- love shack, baby

Yeah, wow! This music is low-fi and sweet, not sweet like twirly-girly twee stuff, but sweet like sharp harmonies and stripped down songs that bare their construction without shame.

blush with talent- March 26, 2009– the blisslist

In miniature’s Hey Marsupial is clearly lo-fi-but not in the sense of favoring scrappy, homespun stylings over polish. Hey Marsupial is simple in its structure, yet it shines with a spirited spontaneity and clever cheekiness (think Amanda Palmer). My curiosity is definitely piqued, and I look forward to more tunes from this young quartet. Three words, blisslisters: Rather! Promising! Indeed!

everybody loves tiny animals- march 21, 2009– the stu reid experiment

frontcovernewNot gonna lie, they got my attention by writing well, seeming quirky, and putting together one of the more adorable album covers I’ve seen (at left).  I mean seriously, how cute is that little marsupial?  Answer:  Rill Cute.

in miniature call it in the air- March 12, 2009– the culture of me

“Call It In The Air”, our favorite of the lot, is a simple delight, a folksy C86 lift but we’ve been sort of in a mood that needs the type of jangle these guys have.

if you’ll be my trailer park, I’ll be your tornado- March 10, 2009– bag of songs

The folky pop sound of Chicago’s In Miniature brings it all back home, honest heartfelt songwriting, sweet as angels vocal harmonies, all surrounded by a tasteful two guitar, bass, and drums mix accented perfectly with accordion here or a xylophone flourish there.

The members of in miniature are just that: diminutive songwriters who slowly build something good.
